What voice are you following? In this early-morning episode of Bedroom & Bible, April and John open John 10 and encounter Jesus as the Good Shepherd, the Gate, and the One whose sheep know His voice. They explore the contrast between the true Shepherd and the thieves, strangers, and hired hands competing for our attention. Jesus doesn’t come to control or destroy—He comes that we may have life abundantly. He knows His sheep, protects them, lays down His life for them, and leads them into freedom.
John 10 is also a wake-up call about spiritual leadership, repentance, discernment, and unity in the Body of Christ. His sheep aren’t called to blindly follow people; we are called to know His voice and follow Him. One flock. One Shepherd. One voice worth following. Maybe the question isn’t simply, Can you hear God? Maybe it’s: Do you know His voice well enough to recognize when another voice is trying to lead you? Recorded from their Deck 14 balcony overlooking the Mediterranean, this episode of Bedroom & Bible became unexpectedly personal for April and John. Just days earlier, they were reading John 9 with a lifeboat literally blocking the view from their original cabin when an unexpected phone call changed their room—and their perspective.
But John 9 is about so much more than a blind man receiving his physical sight. His eyes were opened before he fully understood WHO had healed him. He first knew “the man called Jesus,” then recognized Him as a prophet, and eventually encountered Him as Lord: “Lord, I believe.”
Maybe that’s part of the journey for all of us. Sometimes we can’t see what God is doing because something is blocking our view. Sometimes healing happens before understanding. And sometimes Jesus changes our perspective before He changes our circumstances.
Faith doesn’t require an unobstructed view. It requires trusting the One who sees what we cannot.
